A conservatory-trained jazz musician, I've spent the last decade+ tucked into the world of corporate finance as an executive assistant with a focus on marketing and investor relations. Throughout this period, I've continued to play, record, and teach music in a variety of settings. More recently, I have brought editing, proofreading, and indexing into the fold, primarily working on top-tier academic books, articles, and dissertations in the fields of musicology, literary theory, philosophy, film, art, anthropology, and psychoanalytic theory.Over 2015–2016, I wrote, recorded, and produced an in-depth, highly polished, well-lauded weekly album recommendation podcast called “Josh Rutner’s Album of the Week,” in which over forty quality albums from across genre and time were researched, deconstructed, put into historical context, and critically appreciated for the good of the public ear.
