Josh Wells is the Executive Director and General Manager, of Doc's Friends, Inc, a non-profit organization that owns and operates the B-29 Superfortress known as Doc. In the role since late 2018, Josh oversees the full organization and operation of the World War II-era aircraft, managing its tour schedule and movement, along with all aspects of its operation and profit/loss strategic planning.An Andover, KS, native, Josh is the father of three daughters and proud graduate of Kansas State University. After college, he co-hosted a morning news program at a radio station in Oklahoma City (KTOK AM 1000) before returning to Wichita’s Journal Broadcast Group, where he worked as a news reporter/anchor, storm spotter, assignment editor and interactive news coordinator for the acclaimed KFDI news department. He then went on to manage communications and IT for Kansas 4th District Congressman Mike Pompeo, before moving on to a position in corporate communications at Spirit AeroSystems in 2012.In October of 2013, Josh was appointed to the Andover, USD 385 Board of Education to represent District 1 on the Andover BOE. He has been re-elected three times and served as the board's president and vice president during his tenure on the board since 2013. In his role as Executive Director and General Manager for B-29 Doc, Josh has led the non-profit through a transition from restoration to sustainment, while finding unique ways to grow the reach of the organization's mission and revenue streams. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Doc's Friends, a position he was nominated for in June 2017.Josh and his wife and their three daughters live in Wichita, KS, and when he's not traveling with B-29 Doc, he enjoys following his daughters' competitive softball and dance schedules, fishing, and following K-State sports and Cleveland Guardians baseball.
