As the president of SGS, I lead the company's consulting engagements. Our focus is on providing effective cyber and physical security solutions to industry, individuals, and at-risk individuals. Our cyber practice includes full-time staffing support and consulting. Our consulting services focus on master planning, technology acquisition, penetration testing, virtual environments, and physical security. We also provide real-time crisis management support to our cybersecurity customers.

Granite is government contractor providing advanced security solutions. It provides classified staffing solutions to the federal government, turnkey integrated physical security solutions, and security consulting services. As the general manager, I represented our leadership team in managing the activities of our three business areas. I was responsible for strategic planning, P&L, program execution, customer relationships, and overall management of the organization.

I led the security practice for Markon, one of the four business areas of the company. As the security thought leader, I provided strategic guidance to our customers and employees across 17 verticals. I was responsible for defining the practice and partnering with Business Development for new growth opportunities. Additionally, I developed intellectual property, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance plans. I continually worked with the employees in my practice to ensure professional development goals were achieved.

Led the PSTA, a training services firm for protective services professionals and a subsidiary of the Akal Group of Companies. Develop improved procedures to effectively provide protective services training to more than 10,000 seats per year. Effectively managed the operations of a 45,000 square foot training center with live fire ranges, five classrooms, a simulation studio, and multipurpose indoor and outdoor training areas.

Successfully spearheaded a business unit in a small business IT professional services firm focused on integrated security in the federal sector. Proficiently managed all aspects of P&L, personnel recruitment and retention, and business development. Effectively served as the capture manager and subsequently won a multi-million dollar contract with a federal agency to provide the security system design for the headquarters serving 17,000 employees. Conducted thorough assessments and developed effective enterprise protection strategies for a federal enforcement agency. Developed and executed strategic security plans to align with the corporate goals, protect brand identity, and comply with regulations. Successfully created and managed numerous security/risk management resources to protect the company, including personnel, physical/information security programs and related financial/operational aspects. Oversaw all facets of security operations and implemented enterprise security principles, policies, standards and practices to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to security and access control to data and offices, including SOX, PCI and OSHA

Provided effective security consulting services to high profile corporate customers as well as non-governmental organizations particularly focused on conducting assessments and developing protection strategies. Provided comprehensive business consulting to small businesses in the homeland security and IT services fields with a focus on growth and entry to market. Developed effective physical security standards and mitigation strategies for high risk, high consequence facilities in the Washington, DC, area. Developed the growth framework for a small business to successfully enter the integrated security market.

Led a business unit for a small business defense and homeland security integrator comprised of security consultants and security engineers. Successfully developed and conducted operations in emerging markets as wells as expanded the business in the U.S. Served effectively on the executive management team responsible for strategic planning, process improvement and company operations. Spearheaded business development for the business unit, and developed and executed marketing and outreach efforts to boost revenue and establish working relationships. Developed a $40 million opportunity pipeline for Security Strategies and Infrastructure Protection business unit. Orchestrated trade shows and managed the organization’s social media campaign to increase the company’s public profile.

Merged my small risk management consulting practice with Watermark in 2008. Successfully directed and managed the special projects (regulated services) and training for Watermark. Served effectively as project manager and senior security analyst for the Port-wide Strategic Risk Mitigation Plans for the Port of Hampton Roads, Port of Kansas City and Port of Portland – delivered key projects on time, under budget and exceeded all expectations. Conducted thorough assessments of high profile / high consequence individuals and their individual protective operations to ensure all security needs were met. Served as the director of the Watermark Institute – the training arm of Watermark Risk Management International, LLC – and as the compliance officer for regulated security activities. Maintained the organization’s social media presence to ensure effective online representation

Developed and executed a groundbreaking startup strategy for the Protection Strategies program at Blackwater, a premier global security services firm . Grew the start-up division to 5 full-time personnel, 200 rapid-response personnel and $3 million in revenue in 16 months. Successfully managed all client engagements requiring the development and execution of comprehensive, holistic strategies for protecting people, property and information. Effectively maintained all accountability for financial planning, recruiting, budget development and execution, and prioritization of activities based on company goals. Instituted innovative project controls within my program to ensure objectives were met in a timely, cost effective and sustainable manner. Proficiently led the protection strategy development and security systems design from conceptual to design stage for a 140-acre campus in the Middle East. Successfully managed classified contracts in the Middle East for the provision of field service representatives (FSRs) for complex integrated systems. Managed three port security assessments and conducted an assessment of an international airport in the UAE. Conducted thorough high-risk assessments and successful operations in Iraq, Jordan and Thailand; directed operations in other high risk locations.

Managed activities for the Integrated Security Strategies Division on the West Coast for a $9 billion Fortune 500® scientific, engineering and technology applications company. Served as principal to SAIC’s ongoing security consulting efforts with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Functioned as project manager of multi-disciplined teams performing consulting services to corporate and government clients ensuring all projects were delivered on time, under budget and exceeded expectations. Responsible for all aspects of service delivery, team management, business process and integration for operations on the West Coast. Advised three of the top five identified terrorist targets in California on comprehensive security strategies including physical and operational security, as well as training, technology, emergency management, readiness and counterterrorism. Frequently represented the LAX in open and closed forums on security, terrorism issues and emergency planning. Led high profile and public security assignments such as the Greek Olympics, the Alternative D Master Plan for the redevelopment of LAX, and vulnerability assessments at the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach. Served as the lead security analyst on an internal task force charged with developing a business unit focused on the convergence of physical and logical security.
