About Joshua Eure

In my role, I apply web design best practices to digital content to enhance user experience and to improve learning objectives for students. I utilize proprietary and web-based mark-up languages and tools to create content on the WebAssign platform, as well as other Cengage platforms, and copyedit for consistency and style. As part of a cross-functional, Agile team, I work to improve accessibility in both new and legacy web content across WebAssign and Cengage platforms. I am also a published author of short fiction. I worked for the Center for Creative Marketing as a freelance writer, preparing and writing client press releases, pitch sheets and assisting in marketing strategies. I earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from North Carolina State University in 2011, where I taught three undergraduate courses in fiction writing. I focused heavily on grammatical issues and narrative forms, and I provided substantive, editorial feedback on my students’ writing.I also underwent significant coursework in journalism as an undergraduate, and I worked as an intern with the Cary News. I was a staff writer for three years with N.C. State’s student newspaper. I worked as a fiction editor for The Raleigh Review, a literary magazine, where I accepted or rejected fiction submissions based on quality. I also proofread and edited accepted manuscripts for online and print publication.My stories have won Asimov’s Dell Award and the Brenda L. Smart Prize, and reached the finalist list in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers. I have also won Sundress Publications’ Best of the Net Award for 2010 and have appeared in Oxford American, Surreal South, Southern Cultures, Raleigh Review and Not One of Us, among others. I was a finalist for the Piedmont Laureate in 2014.
