The key to successful aviation maintenance is finding the right balance between meeting customer needs and production deadlines with doing work in accordance with technical standards, quality expectations and safety regulations. For the last 15+ years, I have found ways to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality or jeopardizing my team’s safety. I have focused on quality details without slowing down production goals and I have tackled unique malfunctions or complex issues without delaying the customer’s flying hour requirements. It is a balancing act of prioritization, and it is where I thrive.As my USAF career progressed and I was promoted, I took on more production management roles. I truly enjoyed coordinating the workflow, assigning and delegating tasks and serving as a technical expert and mentor. However, I want to be among the maintainers – whether they are in the back shops or the flightline – as opposed to being in an office doing paperwork. Much of my career has been on the E-3 AWACS airframe and my specialty was propulsion. However, I am confident that my Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license training and my natural mechanical skills will enable me to adapt to most any aircraft support team. As I complete my USAF career in July of 2022, I will be permanently relocating to Oklahoma City, OK.
