As we build our lives in DC through mid-2025, I've formed my own firm to be of loving service to my founder friends doing important work.In the fall of 2020, my wife and I moved to Kuwait with her career in the State Department. After two years in the Gulf, we were apart for 2023 & some change while she served an unaccompanied tour in Juba, South Sudan.In my first foray into tech, I built an incredible (and still growing!) team at Quorum. Quorum is a straightforward vertical SaaS company building modern tools for public affairs, government relations, and grassroots advocacy. I was the first non-engineer employee and led the bootstrapped business development effort.Along with a few other Quorum alums, I went on to build a venture-backed company called Column as Chief Operating Officer. Column builds software that serves as a marketplace for information disclosures that are required by law to be placed in print newspapers. After over four years (and not getting traction on a data product I'd earnestly hoped would be an Act II for the company), I wrapped up my time at Column in Q2 of 2023.Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, I worked on a US Senate race in my home state during the 2012 cycle and the re-elect for the Mayor of Albuquerque in 2013. After moving to DC, I spent a year at a fundraising consulting firm before joining the Quorum team.Human potential is far more evenly distributed than opportunity. To that end, I am interested in charitable, private, & public sector ways of expanding the range of expected outcomes for folks from underserved regions and backgrounds. I always enjoy talking through projects led by friends, whether it's helping startups grow or causes come together.
