As a Design Engineer Intern at Blue Bird Corporation, I was responsible for designing parts for use on school buses and creating detailed drawings for production. I utilized company software to organize drawings and schematics, ensuring precision and accessibility. I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to conduct testing on the parts that I designed, ensuring their functionality and reliability. Additionally, I communicate with external vendors to acquire prototypes and evaluate their performance. My role also involves 3D printing prototype parts to support the product development process. In this position I have been able to accomplish a lot, including a project where I completely redesigned the exhaust system to reduce part complexity by over 60%.As a current model engineering intern, I address and solve production-related issues by collaborating with manufacturing engineers to develop effective solutions. I present my research findings as well as potential solutions to my managers, ensuring clear communication and actionable recommendations. I also work closely with the experimental team to rapidly develop and test parts, contributing to fast-paced problem-solving. Once the parts are created I participate in hands-on testing of my designs. Additionally, I engage in professional email correspondence with various departments within the company to ensure alignment and facilitate smooth operations.
