In 8th grade, my technology teacher - a recent hire at my district - recommended I learn how to code, with no particular goal in mind. I googled "how to code" and found various websites that taught me, a 14-year old with no experience whatsoever, the intricacies of Java, Python, Ruby, and more. I bragged to my classmates about how I could make buttons in HTML and change colors using CSS. I felt on top of the world.Four years later, I was accepted into the University of Arkansas, where I decided to continue my education by majoring in Computer Science. I was no longer on top of the world - I learned what defined math as "discrete", how many combinations of marbles existed in some bag, and more. Many late nights of homework (followed by "gym night" with my roommate) passed, and now I find myself looking forward to graduation and beyond, with confidence in more than HTML buttons and CSS themes, and excitement towards learning more.I began working at Walmart in October of 2020, a few months into my junior year. It began as a job, and is an experience that has taught me valuable things about camaraderie, teamwork, and how collaboration can make a backroom full of fresh freight into a successfully stocked store.
