As part of Duke Energy's transmission group I manage customer relocation needs and roadway improvements. We focus on meeting the customer's timeline and needs while implementing the standards of Duke Energy transmission. Planning and more planning is required to keep these long term projects on schedule. I ensure the end product that gets built exceeds the customers expectation and that we improve the electric grid simultaneously. This position is very rewarding because I get to foster relationships with many different groups of talented people.

I managed two ODNR permitted landfills associated with coal power generation plants and the byproducts generated by these plants. I used project management skills to coordinate large capital projects and small maintenance tasks. I prioritized work based upon safety, environmental impacts, byproduct supply/demands, and labor resources. My days were centered around relationships with varying trades of union and non union labor; I enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know them and their families.

I ensured operation of pumps, cooling towers, bottom ash, and fuel oil systems for a coal power plant in SW Ohio. Each set of equipment had its own characteristics and needs. My day included outage planning, specification generation, work order planning, material procurement, budget review, and maintenance craft supervision.

I managed capital improvement projects from the chartering phase of the project through the closeout phase. The projects I encountered included renewable energy, green infrastructure, new construction, remodels and retrofits of existing facilities, and annual replacements. Asset management played a large role in the projects I managed.

I was a CAD designer for dust control hoods and ducts for clients in the diaper industry. I also designed negative pressure work stations for battery manufacturers.

I reviewed zoning and development applications for compliance to the current regulations.
