Personal Mission Statement: To enrich the lives of those around me.My father worked in IT at Purdue for much of my life and inspired an interest in computers early on. He introduced me to BASIC programming in elementary school on an old Commodore International Home Computer, and by middle school I could completely reformat & repartition a PC hard drive & reinstall the Operating System. In Highschool I became more interested in web development and taught myself how to build a basic website using HTML. He also taught me chess, but not well enough to beat him.My mother inspired more of an artistic spark in me. When I was younger, she had a passion for drawing, painting, and interior design. I did like the drawing and design aspects of art, but what I really fell in love with was developing backgrounds and story arcs with characters that I had drawn. I thought I wanted to write a comic book as a kid, but as I got older, I began to favor writing over the drawing. By the time I graduated high school, creative writing had become my primary hobby.After high school and the events of 9/11, I decided to join the U.S. Marine Corps. My experience with computers and logic gates helped me to understand how electricity flows through various components & circuitry for my MOS. The Marines taught me a lot about being an adult, helped me to overcome many of the difficulties stimming from an early childhood diagnosis of ADHD, and inspired in me a desire to lead.I also reconnected with my love for writing and started taking my silly hobby a little more seriously. I’ve written several poems, short stories, & essays over the years, but I have found that I love a good saga more than anything else.After the Marines, I came back to my hometown and went back to school. I considered becoming a teacher, a psychologist, working in IT like my dad, but I landed in Business Management because it came easily to me, and because starting my own business began to seem more appealing with every class. I saw it as a perfect blend of logic & creativity. Meanwhile, I worked hard to develop myself as a leader in the private sector. My security work led me to a great internship opportunity, which then lead to my experiences in automotive manufacturing.Since joining the automotive industry, I have continued to hone my craft as a writer, expand upon my education, and develop myself as a leader. I've started a family, discovered new interests in engineering and analytics, and it feels like the right time to turn the page on another chapter.
