Workout with your friends, Pay if you screw up, and earn money for your charity....That seems like a shallow tagline but there is some depth to it.Workout with your friends - In The Village Push, you join a virtual tribe of people just like you who are pushing themselves and each other towards health and fitness goals. When we were younger, we played on a soccer or baseball team and we worked together to win. After years of work, family, and the stresses of life we stopped playing on a team and started flying solo. We need to be part of a team and working with others, pushing together when we are tired, busy, or lack motivation. Pay if you screw up - There has been a lot of research on human behavior, motivation and habits (great books: Drive, Power of Habit, & Switch). There are a three motivational drivers and in this section, I will share the first two; Pain and Pleasure. People will do things to gain pleasure and avoid pain. Eating delicious cake will give you a dopamine rush and great pleasure, so why and how would you want to control this? If you are trying to lose weight or get in shape, it is tough to do when your diet is off. You can't outrun chocolate cake (approx 1 min to eat it and over 1 hour to run off the calories). Choose your diet plan and if you cheat on your plan you pay $10 to the charity bank. Now, there is freedom to choose to eat or not eat the cake because we have a tangible cost to weigh our decision when in the past it was only emotional.Earn money for your charity - The 3rd motivational driver is called an intrinsic motive or doing something because you enjoy it or believe in it. When you push with The Village you can earn money for your favorite charity by hitting your fitness goals and helping others do it also. This third driver is by far the most powerful and is the secret sauce as to why people will stick to their plan, especially if it is for good.
