Since 2002, I’ve been an organizer, campaigns director and executive director for environmental causes. There’s no shortage of problems, and I enjoy figuring out what we need to do to win, how we best approach the problem and then mobilizing people.My lengthiest experience has been with Green Corps, a yearlong training program in environmental organizing. It’s the nation’s preeminent fellowship for aspiring changemakers and the alumni have gone on to lead some of the nation’s top groups. The organization’s raison d’etre of approaching organizing as a craft and thinking analytically for how to best galvanize public support behind your cause was incredibly appealing to me. I was selected to do the program back in 2003, was recruited back as the campaigns director in 2010, and was chosen as executive director in 2012. In my tenure, I was involved in every aspect of the program including finding, recruiting, and managing staff, raising money from all sources, soliciting clients to hire campaign teams, crafting our multi-year strategic plans and yearly goals, and more. Under my watch, we diversified our campaign client base, implemented a new “structured interview” system, and raised more money than we ever had. Before I came back to Green Corps, I was involved with several different successful advocacy efforts including helping to convince a major catalog distributor to stop sourcing from endangered forests and designating new wilderness areas.I'm now the Campaign Director for the California Solar & Storage Association.
