Upon starting at GE I was given a dual role of Valve Design Engineer and SAP Superuser. Becoming an SAP superuser meant that I had to fully comprehend the engineering process and cross-functional hand-offs required within the ERP system. As a design engineer my responsibilities were to meet customer requirements, adhere to design code, and understand the technical aspect of control valve functionality. As an SAP Superuser, I performed the data migration checks for the October 2015 SAP go live. Reference training slides were created and provided along with hands on training for the engineering team who would work within SAP. Extending pass go live my role as superuser extended to understanding and developing the best processes for the plant as a whole; understanding the cross-functional impact of engineering process changes. Testing new processes in SAP testing instances, performing mass data loads/changes, performing continuous training for new employees or sharing easier SAP methods for task. As a design engineer the ultimate goal is to fully understand the customer requirements, then design the product components that will meet those needs will adhering to the governing codes/standards.My most recent responsibilities at GE have been to participate in the Systems Engineering Training courses in order to role out the Systems Engineering Technical role career path for the F&PT division of Oil and Gas. The group is made up of 10 engineers who will be assigned and developing the roles and responsibilities of Systems Engineering for different engineering requirements steps such as NPI processing and ITO/OTR phases.

Altoona, Pennsylvania Area

I participated and completed the company’s Management Training Program. The program consisted of a leadership curriculum mixed with hands on machinist, electrician, and welding training. Upon my completion of the program my primary responsibility was to oversee and perform process improvements in the the day to day re-manufacturing process of DC powered traction motors and traction motor combos. During my tenure I managed over 100 employees that covered all three shifts of a 24 hour operation. Assigned projects included testing new process flows without disrupting the current process flow; creating work instructions to standardize job functions moving away from tribal knowledge; troubleshooting and re-calibrating equipment valued well over $100,000. Responsible for tooling designs that improved production, quality and safety by eliminating line of fire situations.An additional responsibility was to mentor and certify new employees on the proper procedures for operating the company’s equipment. I focused on continuous improvement of safety in the work environment; ensured by weekly safety check ups and monthly rules checks.

Greater Atlanta Area

Working under a P.E, I was a support engineer for facilities management, which included but was not limited to; controls shop, HVAC shop, and building management. One of my larger projects was to calculate the energy savings by adjusting lab air changes. The project resulted in an energy savings that totaled more than $250,000 per year.On a daily basis I corrected multiple problems occurring on HVAC systems and campus infrastructure. Resulting in both cost effective and permanent solutions that would meet the customer’s needs. In correcting the problems I was performing Air and piping HVAC calculations pertaining to BSL2 Lab design, Kitchen design, Office and Residence Halls. The results were then used to create scopes of work for bidding contractors. I started at Emory as an engineering intern. My first projects were to utilize blue prints from Emory’s database to locate the HVAC equipment within the buildings. As the internship progressed I performed HVAC load calculations; under the direction of multiple P.E’s. The calculations included room heat loads, heat exchangers, and line sizing.

Statesboro, Ga

The research was based toward a cost effective production of composite materials. This consisted of manufacturing and testing the composite. The testing was done by utilizing FEA analysis and LabVIEW in order to obtain both theoretical and practical test data. In the Spring 2011, I took the role of group leader to move the research into troubleshooting the testing device and mapping stress/strain curves of the composite. As the leader I was responsible for instructing new students on how to continue our research and explaining the goals.
