As an Assistant Account Executive, my responsibilities included; daily contact and maintenance of relationships with key journalists from international, national and trade media; providing thought leadership for clients' future media strategies; writing thought-leadership pieces on clients' behalf; pitching in front of prospective new business clients; daily news-tracking to feedback relevant to clients; and daily administrative management of clients' accounts.In this role, there were a number of key skills I was able to develop due to the variety of different requirements at the position. These included (perhaps most importantly) time management and organisation of these many different tasks; communication skills when succinctly pitching stories to media; analytical skills when writing opinion pieces or contributing to future client strategies; and presentation skills when pitching for new business.Furthermore, the communications in this role were largely conducted for clean technology clients across many different sectors, ranging from offshore wind to energy storage to fossil fuel portfolio management. It is from this job that I was able to develop my existing interest in environmental issues, in particular low-carbon and renewable energy, and subsequently decided to pursue a Master's Degree in the sector at Imperial College London.

This role consisted of teaching English to business executives in groups of up to 8 at companies including La Caixa Bank (Catalonia's largest bank) and The Colomer Group (associated brand of Revlon).In this position as a teacher of Business English, core skills such as thorough lesson planning and lesson structure, timekeeping and punctuality were essential. In addition, the independence gained from living in Barcelona, learning Spanish to a modest level, and managing living arrangements were all personal skills which I found very useful to develop.
