As Research Scientist with Livwell's Marijuana Infused Products (MIP) division, I designed & implemented improved production processes for new & existing cannabis concentrates. Outside of the MIP, I engaged with various production teams (e.g., cultivation, post-harvest, cure, packaging, compliance & testing) to achieve facility-wide improvements.

Responsible for new product ideation & development, including process design for refining cannabidiol-rich hemp extracts. Devised improved methods for refining supercritical CO2-extracted CBD-rich hemp oils at pilot-plant scale. Collaborated with sales team and high-value customers to develop custom products. Advised and participated in optimization of supercritical CO2 extraction parameters. Gained valuable perspectives on the pressures and potentials for this 'gold-rush' of an industry!

Developed synthetic methods to attain core structures for drug candidates using enantioselective organocatalyzed cascade reactions. Under the generous tutelage of Dr. Akin Akdag, in the labs of Professor Josef Michl, research involved computational design & synthesis of experimental dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC.) Dyes were designed to exhibit singlet fission with prolonged triplet states for increasing the energy conversion efficiency of photovoltaics.
