Environmental Engineering Co-Op
City Of Tampa David L. Tippin Water Treatment Plant
Collaborated seamlessly on a coordinated interdisciplinary team in a collective effort to provide clean and safe water to the Tampa Bay area. A multi-faceted range of experiences was gained from rotations through wet chemistry laboratory, microbiology, operations, and pilot plant departments. • Conducted pilot plant water research and optimization to improve reliability on biological backwash methods for Water Research Foundation Project• Pilot plant research and optimization, jar testing (bench scale) magnetic ion exchange resin (MIEX), and sizing• Calibrated conductivity probe, UV-254 spectroscopy, nitrite, chlorine, and ammonia meters • Water Quality Control Analysis for UV-254, Ammonia, nitrite, Monochloramine, Colliforms, E.coli• Prepared and generated safety boil water rescind report notices for public distribution• Operated autoclave • Prepared buffer and titrant solution• Titrate quicklime to find percentage (quality) of calcium oxide in Lime deliveries• Batch react quicklime with water to produce calcium hydroxide slurry (slaked lime)• Sieve slaked lime slurry to provide data on sand composition and its affect on filters
