I use the power of competitions to advance science, technology, and education. In 2012, I launched the Institute of Competition Sciences to help others do the same. Since then, we have organized workshops at the White House, led NSF research grants, designed innovation challenges for NASA, and supported or led the development of high-profile prizes providing over $16,000,000 in awards. Science, education, space exploration and all things geek are my passions. Through our projects at ICS, I have been involved in cutting edge bio-engineering research, launching products to the International Space Station, designing innovative educational games, starting a global entrepreneurship competition, teaching thousands of youth about innovation and entrepreneurship, and designing challenge-based-learning projects for thousands of students. Years ago I managed to convince MIT to give me a BS and MS degree in Planetary Science and I still hold a deep interest in space exploration. One day in the not too distant future I hope to live off the planet at least for a little while.
