As part of the integrated plant and structures team, I oversee and integrate engineering contractor system designs with in-house and partner systems design. Primary focus on molten nitrate salt Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems integration (Tanks and Pumps), coordinate molten salt testing with laboratory personnel. Assist with plant and common requirements set elicitation, 10CFR50 applicability reviews, and NUREG reg. guide applicability reviews.

Manage projects for commercial, industrial, and oil and gas clients including refinery turnaround projects. Provide front end scope, budget and schedule development, coordinate discipline engineers, develop RFQs, interface with vendors and clients. Provide process engineering, mechanical engineering, instrumentation and controls engineering support for early stage projects and review of discipline deliverables. Write proposals to provide engineering services for clients. Track project budget, schedule and provide data for forecasting.

I managed a team of engineers and administrative personnel to provide facility engineering services to customers in the Gas Processing and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industries. Services include operator training and certification, remote and onsite operation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, operating and maintenance manual development, regulatory compliance (DOT/PHMSA, and CSA/BCOGC), process optimization and capital project development and execution. I developed proposals for new clients and projects including facility analysis relative to regulations and industry best practices, scope development, and budgeting.Accomplishments:• Conducted Gap Analyses for small-scale LNG producers to define shortcomings relative to DOT/PHMSA (US) and CSA/BCOGC (Canada) regulations.• Developed DOT/PHMSA compliant manuals (operations, maintenance, emergency, security and training) for a small-scale LNG producer. • Certified operator for 66,000 gal/day Single Mixed Refrigerant LNG plant. Remote operate the plant, increasing uptime and minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities:Mechanical design of anaerobic digestion and thermal water treatment plants (falling film evaporator and forced circulation crystallizer processes). Create P&IDs, equipment configuration drawings and data sheets. Author specifications for piping, valves and equipment. Evaluate vendor quotes based on performance and technical compliance with required specifications and make recommendations to purchasing group. Meet with client engineering staff to ensure plant design meets client requirements and complies with necessary industry standards and regulations.Accomplishments:>Primary mechanical engineer for a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study which resulted in award of an $80million competitively bid project in the Canadian oil sands.>Executed systems level design of a FGD water treatment facility. Beat aggressive schedule, with exceptional quality. Created a happy reference customer in a new market.>Developed design standards for engineered products to increase consistency, and aid global execution of projects.

Responsibilities:Administrator for the plant data historian, AspenTech InfoPlus.21One of two onsite engineers for the plant Distributed Control System (DCS), ABB System 800xA. Specified and coordinated installation of new instrumentation including: process piping modifications, DCS programming, final checkouts and Management of Change documentation. Managed capital projects focused on safety and process automation. Coordinated design, purchasing, construction and commissioning in addition to process and instrumentation design engineering.Accomplishments:Automated a batch reactor system comprised of two reactors capable of 10 different batches each with minimal operator input.Expanded the plant DCS system to include an additional controller and operator workstation to run a semi-continuous, research and development reactor system.Installed new burner management systems and upgraded air / fuel controls for two different, 3 fuel, 30 – 45 Mlb/hr steam boilers.

Responsibilities:Supported refinery capital project groups in front end scoping activities, safety system engineering studies and regulatory compliance surveys. Designed process systems containing pumps, vessels, piping, emergency depressuring valves and pressure relief valves. Created / modified PFD’s, P&ID’s, line lists and equipment data sheets. Led P&ID reviews for capital projects, participated in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and consulted with client engineering and operations leads to tailor project designs to the client’s needs.Accomplishments:Created a simulation to analyze a refinery wide flare network in the event of plant wide relief scenarios.Designed a rail car loading system to load butane and LPG for transport via rail.Evaluated instrumentation throughout a 234,000 bbl /day refinery to verify compliance withhazardous area classifications.

ResponsibilitiesDesigned, and coordinated the installation of a sample station for secondary containment of acid water transfer piping to provide indication of primary containment failure and easy retrieval of material from secondary containment for analysis. Created new P&IDs and updated existing drawings and equipment lists. Participated in a PHA for a Nitric/Hydrofluoric Acid Tank.
