Following my time in the Marines as a USMC Corporal I broke into the supply chain industry leveraging my military leadership acumen to manage various business functions including operations, sales, manufacturing, distribution, finance, and most recently, mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Over the course of the past 10 years I have taken on progressive leadership roles with the largest packaged ice manufacturer in the US, Reddy Ice. Since getting my start I have assumed Market Manager and Regional Director roles that have given me the chance to strengthen foundational operations while also growing the business by pursuing sales expansion opportunities. Although I had no previous formal training, my familiarity with business development, finance, strategic partnerships, and project management combined with my ability to jump head first into new responsibilities enabled me to transition into the role. In this position, I am accountable for managing our deal pipeline and driving transactions from start (vetting leads) to finish (driving integration or divestiture activity). As such, I am in constant communication with our executive leadership team on everything from defining the company’s vision and market analysis results to risk identification, due diligence, deal negotiations and post-deal strategy. To date, I have achieved the following: • Laid the groundwork for a $15M acquisition, which included authoring the acquisition thesis.• Led integration of company’s largest acquisition in 10 years, with involvement in inventory/valuation of over 3k assets, conversion and integration of fleet, contract negotiations with 7 distributors (in under 100 days) and ongoing collaboration with the CFO and CEO. • Enabled development and deployment of ERP performance dashboard and corresponding handheld technology. -
Market Manager/Regional DirectorReddy Ice 2014 - 2017Dallas, Texas, UsPrior to transitioning to M&A I was heavily involved in the management of 13 manufacturing, distribution and support centers with total revenues of $15M+. Everything that went into making these locations successful fell under my purview including strategic planning, tracking P&L and KPIs, HR administration for my 130+ employees, and much more. Seeing as I had my finger on the pulse of the regions supply chain operations, I was able to grow upon thriving aspects of the business along with improving upon faltering points. A prime example of this involved active business development efforts to improve struggling sales. Although this was not under my typical purview, I did not hesitate to step in and call upon regional accounts to grow existing business as well as pitch new accounts or events to encourage top line growth. A few of my notable accomplishments from this role included: • Driving a profit margin increase of 116% on $1.3M in revenue after developing seasonal and year-round strategic partnerships with local dairy distributors. • Influencing a 8.5% reduction in manufacturing costs and 15% decrease in delivery costs. • Turning around a previously unprofitable market by negotiating co-packer agreements with competitors to service national accounts. This led to $500K EBITDA improvement and first-time ever profit on income. • Increasing net profit per unit by 3000% on 1.2M units by negotiating a warehouse program with our third largest national customer.• Acting as a mentor to 7 high-impact managers and additional new hires via the “Manager in Development” program. • Submission of a winning proposal to be the official ice provider for the 2015 U.S. Open, a $100,000 event. -
Market Manager/General ManagerReddy Ice 2011 - 2014Dallas, Texas, UsIn this smaller market, I was intimately involved with all aspects of day-to-day operations within local manufacturing sites and distribution centers. On a granular level this included performance management, monitoring plant operations, and directing distribution activities. It also included active management over components such as DOT compliance, accounting controls, safety training, and fleet management to ensure the facility ran smoothly. My key achievements included: • Implementing UPS Roadnet, a transportation/logistics software, across 6 of our Mid-South regions.
