• In 2023, I have guided and supported all 11 Implementing Partners to achieve full PSEA capacity under the PSEA Common Assessment. I developed UNHCR’s PSEA community-based complaints mechanisms, the first of its kind in Malaysia; conduct PSEA training for UNHCR and partner staff; and oversee SEA investigations.• As co-chair of the UN Country Team PSEA Network, I spearheaded the development of the national PSEA action plan and support the capacity development of other UN agencies’ PSEA Focal Points. • Conduct advocacy efforts with local government agencies including the Welfare Department and One Stop Crisis Centres in order to expand safe access to services for refugees. I have led the multi-year development of coordination and interagency platforms with said government agencies and key stakeholders in 2 regions.• Developed ground-breaking online safe spaces for refugee women and girls project involving 3 local service providers and 7 refugee communities. I created the interagency GBV referral mechanism currently utilized by the communities. The project was a 2022 UNHCR Emerging Practice and has impacted over 500 women-at-risk.• Project manage 4 child protection and GBV partners who provide case management, deliver BIDs and BIAs, and run community-based GBV engagements. My role includes leading risk management, monitoring budgets, conducting regular coordination, and monitoring project outputs. In 2023, these partners have assisted over 200 women and 300 children-at-risk.• As UNHCR’s LGBTIQ+ focal point, I developed and ran training for staff, created safe spaces, and developed a coordination platform with LGBTIQ+ stakeholders.• As Engaging Men through Accountable Practices (EMAP) focal point, I oversee 3 partners running the EMAP program, and provide capacity building and technical support to coordinators and facilitators. The program has successfully impacted over 150 refugee men and women across 2 states by strengthening community-based GBV prevention.

Sexual And Gender Based Violence Protection Associate

• Successfully managed four GBV and child-protection safe community projects with UNHCR Implementing Partners that impacted 5,000 vulnerable women and children. This includes leading strategic planning and risk management; monitoring budget, impact indicators, outputs, and outcomes; providing technical expertise on refugee-related issues; and supervising reporting obligations.• As Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) focal point, developed and facilitated PSEA training for all UNHCR Malaysia’s staff, Implementing Partners, and Operational Partners. Also develop UNHCR Malaysia’s inter-agency strategy on SEA, developing community-based reporting mechanisms, and providing technical support for partners SEA investigations.• Created the SGBV Legal Aid program which provides free legal counselling and pro bono watching brief services, actively managing 12 chambering pupils and 2 interns. In 2019, the program provided over 200 interventions for SGBV survivors.• Assisted in developing and implementing the SGBV National Action Plan, including conducting dialogues and capacity building activities with government agencies, NGOs, partners, and refugee communities to strengthen the protection of refugee SGBV survivors.• Providing training on domestic violence laws and prevention for UNHCR and implementing partners staff. • Developed IEC materials, including a domestic violence information booklet for refugee survivors which has been translated into Somali, Arabic, and Burmese.
