I founded and help run the Metagovernance Project (aka Metagov), a laboratory for digital governance. We build tools, infrastructure, and communities for self-governance.

The Local Sense Lab operates a sensor-activated lab space in the middle of Downtown Crossing, Boston’s densest retail and commercial zone. LSL also performs a wide variety of research focused on urban data and public engagement around smart-cities projects. See http://www.localsense.org.

Customer discovery and general business wrangling for the MIT math+data startup, which is using category theory to design new tools and standards for data integration tasks (e.g. designing, modifying, and combining databases).By way of explanation... in category theory, every function f : X → Y has a dual, co(f), which is a function co(f) : co(Y) → co(X). Now, it is commonly known that a mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems, i.e. Mathematician : Coffee → Theorems. Therefore, a co(Mathematician) must be a map from co(Theorems) → co(Coffee). Since coffee is involutive—co(co(X)) = X—we have Co-mathematician : Cotheorems → Ffee. Trust me, this is a very funny joke in category theory.

The Social Robotics Lab at Yale, aka Scazlab, uses computational modeling and socially interactive robots in different methodological roles to explore questions about social development. I programmed a "wolf pack" of robots to track a person across a room, and helped run experiments testing human perceptions of robot animacy.

Along with two other co-founders, developed a social events app Letstream that organized and shared users' events in an intuitive "star-field". Worked on the business side, especially in customer discovery and market research.

Trekiz is a travel-tech start-up based in Beijing. As part of a 3-person team, I conducted a broad interview and customer discovery process (n > 200), used that data to construct a customer segmentation, deployed the strategy in the hostel/trekker segment, and helped craft their SEO strategy. Communicated with the CEO and engineers in both English and Mandarin.

New Sector Alliance is a nonprofit consulting firm located in Boston. As part of a two-person team and with the help of mentors from Oliver Wyman and BCG, I helped a local-area IT company add a "green" data-center energy optimization component to their service portfolio.

Coordinated a global staff of over 200 writers, editors, and publishers. Global21 is a network of student-run international affairs magazines at universities (Yale, Cambridge, Peking, Sciences Po, etc.) across the world.

Maya is a student-run consulting and marketing firm specializing in the Yale and Ivy League markets. Took over a defunct student marketing club and built it into a thriving company. Acquired initial clients, including the university and Jack Wills (a major British clothier), and managed several project teams of consultants, analysts, artists, photographers, and event planners.

The Lincoln Group is a boutique consulting firm specializing in strategic communications and information operations (IO) support to military forces in conflict zones including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Connecticut Innovations is a publicly-funded venture capital firm specializing in technology and biotechnology startups. Conducted due diligence, participated in investment meetings, advised the VC on investment decisions.

Evigi Technologies is a technology startup specializing in information security. Created a new product line (reselling and servicing Juniper Networks devices), added it to the company's offerings, analyzed the market, designed the ad campaign, launched it.
