Junior Radio Frequency Design Engineer
Current- Designed novel 16x16 RF router with ADS and LT spice simulations, impedance matching, compression estimation, LC circuits and layout considerations for RF radiation, isolation, manufacturing and noise. Also designed DC power and digital circuits for routing control and monitoring.- Orchestrated projects for RF products from initial design phase to product release involving design planning, design to specifications, management of hardware designs, coordination with software designers and product release documentation for testing and assembly.- Improved the thermal performance of a quad channel RF over fiber transmitter with full LNB control using methods such as IC configuration optimization, thermal sinking materials between hot components and the chassis, as well as considerate component placement.- Meticulously reviewed layouts created by layout team to ensure all RF layout methods were followed such as trace width rules, use of curves, evaluating potential for noise, RF coupling, radiated emissions as well as heat distribution and thoughtful component placement.- Optimized cost of prototypes by searching for multiple part selections, comparing cheaper parts of similar performance and organizing selections in spreadsheets to illustrate choice.- Executed full suite of RF tests such as S-parameters, IP3/OIP3, P1dB, group delay, isolation, noise figure and spur assessment using VNA’s, SA's and SG's.- Designed and double-checked digital and analog circuits for signal processing and control such as RF power detection, laser power feedback , 10MHz ref circuits, data comms over fiber, ADC and UI.- Communicated & coordinated with software team by detailing software requirements, analyzing digital component datasheets, troubleshooting digital comms (SPI, I2C) and investigating if issue was hardware or software.- Used simulation tools like Keysight ADS and LTSpice to pre-test designs and optimize circuits for RF performance and analog circuit performance.
