As a 2024 psychology honours student with aspirations of becoming a psychologist, I have dedicated myself to developing skills aligned with my career goals.In 2023, I completed training as a crisis supporter for Lifeline Australia. This role honed my abilities in active listening, empathy, and crisis intervention, allowing me to support individuals in distress and understand diverse emotional states and coping mechanisms.I am particularly interested in working with children and adolescents with autism, which led me to my current position as a Client Support Assistant at Little Souls Wellness Centre. Here, I work with a multidisciplinary team and handle client interactions and administrative tasks, gaining valuable insights into the functioning of a psychological practice and the importance of ethical considerations. During an observational internship at the Forensic Child and Youth Mental Health Service, I observed psychology sessions in various settings, including public CYMHS centres and the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre. This experience deepened my understanding of allied health and therapeutic listening.My role as a Treatment Coordinator provided practical experience with clients and referring professionals, enhancing my interpersonal and organisational skills. With my diverse professional background and ongoing studies, I aim to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health.
