A few months after graduating from the Accra Academy, I applied for my first-ever paid job - as a preschool teacher. I imagined then that my greatest struggle would be handling the stress from multitasking and dealing with children, but I never thought teaching simple rhymes and poems would become one of my biggest challenges yet greatest teachers.My first day of teaching was when reality struck me. I recited some rhymes with the kids and they responded with enthusiasm. Five minutes later, they seemed to have lost the energy they began with and were yawning; an indirect signal of how boring I was.For days, I laboured endlessly to engage the kids, only to watch my pride diminish each time. But as the weeks progressed, I persisted - watching YouTube videos, seeking feedback, and improving my skills. This experience taught me that the most gratifying victories come from tenacity. The difficulties I faced proved teaching rhymes was not trivial at all.Through this experience, I've learned that the most gratifying victories come from tenacity. The art of tenacity has pushed me to become a better person in all facets of my life, from my early days as a preschool teacher to my studies in Computer Science and now a career in Public Relations.Currently, I’m a Beacon of Excellence of the Central Leadership Program and a McKinsey Forward Fellow. I'm also the author of "Eyram's Ponder," a bi-weekly newsletter aimed at driving positive change through my observations of the world.Recognizing the power of storytelling, I've made my mark as a freelance graphic designer and content creator, collaborating with brands seeking to stand out.
