My experience as a collegiate athlete at Westmont College has prepared me to enter into the workforce by teaching me resilience, teamwork, leadership, punctuality, and time management. Basketball has created a competitive spirit in me which has taught me perseverance through adversity in intense environments. However, basketball, being a team sport, showed me that everyone plays a certain role which has taught me to excel and adapt to the needs of my team each season. While working at the Coronado Community Center as an Operations Assistant, I developed an understanding of how to set-up, run, and breakdown events and troubleshoot on occasions. I have been behind the scenes of many events and know what it takes to run a successful program--preparation, anticipation of customer needs, and organization. I am currently working on creating a non-profit organization, called G.A.P.S., through Westmont College. G.A.P.S. seeks to empower at risk high school student-athletes by providing free academic, athletic, and life mentorship. My ultimate goal is to help students reach their full potential by providing access to resources such as athletic training, SAT tutoring, FAFSA workshops, and college/scholarship aid. Growing up in an under-resourced neighborhood myself, I have a passion to give back to the community that gave me so much. I believe my athletic and work experience has equipped me to be a valuable asset in the workplace.
