After relocating to Queenstown to realise our lifestyle dreams I purchased an existing business with 2 employees, that was in rapid decline and in real need of a major overhaul. Over the space of five years I grew the business and at one point was employing over 20 staff and had a turnover in excess of five million per annum. One of the first things I completed was a major brand overhaul in which I rebranded to Hiko Enterprises Ltd. Due to a change in family and personal circumstances with a marriage split I was forced to relocate back to Christchurch and pursue new opportunities.

Taking on a shareholding and a general manager role with Automation Assist Ltd. We specialised in Automation, AV and security systems among others. I grew the business from 2 employees to approx. 15 in 2 and a half years, during this time I rebranded to Assist Group to better promote our products and service within the industry and also started Assist Electrical under the Assist Group Banner. We grew over 100% year on year and we also won the small enterprise Champion Canterbury Business award. At that time, I was the only person to have won the award twice with two different companies. In January of 2015 we had a son called Noah and this really caused my wife and I to reassess our goals and as a part of this we decided to follow our dream of living in the southern lakes region of New Zealand so I sold out to my business partner and made the move to Queenstown. Relocated from Auckland back to my Hometown Christchurch to set up the Christchurch branch of Automation Associates, an Auckland based Automation Company. I was responsible for all aspects of the start-up including admin, sales, design and project management. The move proved to be extremely successful however as I started to grow the business I found myself wanting to take it in a different direction than that of the Auckland based owners.
