Working alongside the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service coordinating nutria control efforts on National Wildlife Refuges and adjacent private land in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Developing nutria control strategies and data collection processes, assisting in management of interagency and interdepartment agreements, developing partnerships, assisting in hiring and oversight of program members stationed at 5 refuge complexes, and grant writing.

Working in the southern region of Maryland on freshwater, and tidal black bass fisheries. Involved in annual tidal black bass survey which includes boat electrofishing, estimating extent of submerged aquatic vegetation, identifying tidewater fish species, and measuring water quality parameters. Planning and performing multispecies fish population surveys in impoundments ranging from 1 – 800 acres using night electrofishing and fyke netting. Mapping reservoir fish habitat using side scan sonar. Writing and editing federal aid reports for impoundment fishery management. Researching invasive blue catfish populations using low frequency electrofishing, radio tagging and otolith aging. Promoting awareness of invasive blue catfish in the Chesapeake Bay through a TV interview (see attached media), talking with local anglers, and staffing an invasive catfish tournament. Assisting hatchery staff in seining ponds, collecting brood stock, transporting live fish, and stocking. Surveying trout streams using backpack and barge electrofishing. Maintaining office grounds and a small fishery management property containing a 1-acre largemouth bass and bluegill pond. Maintenance work includes pond management (controlling floating plant growth), mowing, basic plumbing, and carpentry. Routine boat and outboard maintenance along with simple mechanical troubleshooting. Public outreach through staffing fishing tradeshow booth, assisting in a DNR State Trooper fish identification course, teaching a Maryland Master Naturalist fish course, volunteering at a grade school fishing camp, and teaching others to run youth fishing programs.

As a Technician III at the Pilot Station Sonar Project I continued operating sonar and gill nets with the added responsibility of assisting biologists in overseeing and training 5 ADF&G employees and 1 non-ADF&G employee.

2018 Sonar and Test Fishery Technician:In this position I operated sonar and gill nets to quantify and apportion passage of Salmon up the Yukon River. My duties included interpreting sonar echograms, operating drift gill nets, collecting tissue samples, recording environmental data and maintaining a remote field camp.2016 & 2017 Mark and Recapture Technician:In 2016 I worked at a field camp on the Yentna River. This was a recapture site where we operated fish wheels and gill nets to capture Chinook Salmon which had been tagged at a camp farther down the river. In 2017 I worked at a tagging camp on the adjacent Susitna River. Here I tagged Chinook Salmon with dart, passive integrated transponder (PIT), and radio tags. Again I operated fish wheels and drift gill nets as capture methods.
