About Josie Young

I work at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, ethics and innovation. My recent research and professional experience focuses on designing tools for building ethical Artificial Intelligence products and systems. I was awarded 'Young Leader of the Year' the Women in IT Awards in London (2020), and named on the 'Rising Stars in AI Ethics' list at the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics Annual Summit 2021.In 2018 I spoke at TEDxLondon about my exploratory research to create and test a feminist AI design process for chatbots (TEDx talk: https://youtu.be/E-O3LaSEcVw | research summary: https://t.co/TOD9CEX7nk). This research has led to a number of collaborations and thought leadership around building ethical and feminist Artificial Intelligence.I am skilled at working across multiple subject areas, managing complex stakeholder relations, employing a range of analytical and methodological approaches, and bringing a leadership mindset to every situation. In addition, I have extensive voluntary and leadership experience in the charity sector focused on gender equality and human rights.
