- Acting as Team Leader for the operators. Plant Manager is manager for the whole crew.- Acting plant manager in the absence of the Plant Manager- Leading and managing the operation of the power plant- Maximizing the availability of the plant and minimizing downtime- Fulfilling Valmet's contractual requirements to the customer- Make sure that adequate number of Operators with sufficient experience and certification are working in the shifts- Preparing and issuing shift lists for the Operators and arranging back-up in case of sickness or other leaves- Preparing the Monthly Operation Report for the customer- Long term operational planning together with Plant Manager- Fuel monitoring in terms of quantity and quality- Managing the Fuel Yard Operators, including preparing shift lists and supervising their work- Monitoring and reporting the performance of the plant- Plant process troubleshooting- Make sure that HSE procedures are followed at the plant- Make sure that sufficient amount of tools, consumables (such as chemicals, oils, greases, etc.) and equipment are available at the plant for operation- Develop, train and certify personnel as required- Support Plant Manager in maintenance planning and CMMS- Compliance with the requirements of local authorities regarding power plant operation and performing regular statutory and inspections and testing as required by law.- Maintaining good customer relations and contacts to the stakeholders as well as keeping up a good team spirit among the O&M crew

Tasks:-Monitor and operate the plant from the automated DCS system in the control room-Daily check rounds of the power plant systems and equipment-Identify and react on deviations and alarms in the process-Troubleshooting of the power plant process-Monitor the combustion process from the DCS system as well as from the field, adjust if necessary.-Monitor the water and steam process from the DCS system as well as from the field, adjust if necessary-Monitor the turbine and generator operation from the DCS system as well as from the field, adjust if necessary-Monitor the auxiliary processes from the DCS as well as from the field, adjust if necessary-Performing steam sootblowings-Starting up and shutting down the plant-Preservation of the plant-Monitor the fuel quality and quantity (biomass and LFO)-Taking daily fuel samples-Analyzing fuel samples (for moisture content)-Monitor the quantity and quality of ash. Reporting when containers should be emptied.-Monitor the quantity of consumables (e.g. chemicals, oils, greases, bed sand). Reporting/ordering when necessary.-Water and steam sampling and monitoring-Documenting operational activities-Support plant management in procurements, reporting and troubleshooting-Greasing and lubrication of equipment-Cleaning and changing of filters-Preventive maintenance and condition monitoring of equipment-Repair of equipment possible to perform during operation. This can include simple fitting, welding and assembly works, or small electrical maintenance works on low voltage (<400 V) side.-Perform system and equipment inspections during annual shutdowns, e.g. boiler, fuel feeding system, ash system.-Small repairs during annual shutdowns. External service companies can be contracted for larger and more technically demanding repairs and services.-Warehouse and workshop management and inventory-Spare part and tool management and inventory-Documenting maintenance activities
