I've always been interested in technology and doing fun projects. When I was young however, I thought I would do something in the medical field, specifically brain related, such as psychology. The idea of helping people always allured me. For the longest time I was torn which one to choose, as I didn't know these two could be combined.I am currently studying Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence. A study that aims to combine the knowledge of the brain, and uses that to create intelligence systems. I am still doing fun projects, they might have become a lot more serious, as they have shifted in trying to provide solutions for societal challenges, but working on these still gives me the same satisfaction as doing my own stupid projects.At the moment, I'm working a lot together with the Brainihacks, a group of 3 other students, that are extremely motivated. Together we try to attend as many hackathons and projects as we can manage. Not only is it extremely fun to do, we also learn a lot by applying all the knowledge we get from university, and actually doing something with it. Not relying on doing everything myself, but having trust in the competence of my colleagues.- Networking. I am a bit of an introvert, but attending open days, pitching events and networking events has taught me how to talk to people on a professional level, as well as to not be scared to approach people.- Opportunity seeking. Always being on the lookout for new events, people to talk to, and opportunities to be found. People might give you a chance to prove yourself, which might lead to much more than you could imagine.
