The division of Infectious Diseases of the Illinois Department of Public Health is a governmental agency tasked with protecting the public of Illinois through disease surveillance, analysis, education, and immunization.The section I worked for specifically tracked all infectious diseases that were not considered sexually transmitted, and did not include their respective immunization, as those were tracked by separate sections within the division.My tasks within this role included tracking and surveilling specific diseases such as Hepatitis B and C, SARS-CoV-2, Cyclosporiasis, and Rabies. Tracking of these diseases involved utilizing skills such as data input and analysis of lab results and case data, the mapping of disease proliferation utilizing ArcGIS, and the creation of public health education materials such as posters or pamphlets.

The Naval History and Heritage Command Underwater Archeology Branch is responsible for the management, research, and preservation of the U.S. Navy's sunken military craft. This office oversees one of the largest collections of submerged cultural resources, which includes over 2,500 shipwrecks and 14,000 aircraft wrecks dispersed around the world. The Underwater Archeology Branch was established in 1993 to manage these sites and to advise the Department of the Navy on all matters related to the science of underwater archaeology and historic preservation as it pertains to military ship and aircraft wreck sites.This internship was a 3 month long project that was focused on two major research projects I worked upon during that time. Additionally there were several smaller projects I was involved in regarding archival research, curation and preservation, and GIS database management. One of the major projects I undertook here, was researching a way to deal with the Navy’s corroding sunken WWI and WWII vessels and how to prevent the leaking of fuel into the local environment. For the second project, I focused on investigating the impact of US Army Corps of Engineers dredging projects and the potential damage they could cause to sunken military craft in the area. For both these initiatives, I had utilized the command’s ArcGIS software and database of known sunken military assets to aid in my research.

The College of Lake County is a community college in Lake County Illinois that enrolls more than 15,000 students. The college is host to a number of transfer programs, career programs, GED and adult education, non-credit and career development, and training for businesses.As a recruitment specialist, I was responsible primarily for the recruitment of non-traditional students into the college's accredited associate programs. I utilized the recruitment department's existing CRM database of interested inquiries to pursue individual cases. Additionally, I had created new relationships with local area high schools and alternative schools towards recruiting their graduating senior students. During my tenure here I had recruited several hundred students from the college’s newly created pool of non-traditional student leads. I had created several new relationships between the college and feeder ombudsman programs to introduce non-traditional high school level students to secondary education opportunities.

The university offers bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs in nursing, and a public health master's degree.As an Admissions Representative my focus was in recruiting RN nurses to the school's online RN-BSN bachelor degree program. Once applied, I was responsible for aiding the applicant in obtaining transcripts, enrolling in classes, and setting up payment options. This position was a customer service focused position, and involved walking the applicant through several steps before enrolling.I consistently recruited 8 to 14 students each month to the program’s roster. From these students I also received 1 to 3 referrals to reach out to for additional recruitment opportunities.
