In my professional life, my north star is the betterment of Singapore, regardless of what role I play. I can be teaching, or running events, or leading digital transformation efforts, but when the dots connect, it is to make Singapore a better place, directly or indirectly. I see myself as a creative problem solver, and since my background is in tech, I like to see through the lenses of tech to see how we can make things better. But my diverse background in non-tech practitioner roles have also helped me see the other side of the fence. I describe myself as a practical idealist. I often carry lofty ambitions that are way out of our reach but I think will be worthwhile to strive for. I like to tackle the big stuff, and sweat the “small” stuff. Far too many leaders look at the big numbers (the big stuff) but neglect the magical experience (the “small” stuff) we ought to create for people interacting with our programmes and products. Yet I take a practical view on what we can achieve. But what if we can bite off more than we can chew … and yet overcome it well? I aspire to be a good leader; you can only do so much alone. A good leader who sets the right goals help the whole team achieve the right things that matter. And I hope to be that multiplier effect to my team.
