Created the Vision and Architecture for an Internet facing, 3-tier, Personal Finance site. The tech stack involved Linux, Apache, MySQL and Python, on the SliceHost Cloud Platform.The architecture provided a high level of stability and security, using the "OWASP Top 10" guide. During the roll out I worked with developers to design and deploy the site.

Supported Google's Enterprise customers who used the Google Search Appliance. Routinely diagnosed customer's TCP/IP networks, many of them Fortune 500 companies. This included capturing traffic, analyzing it to determine the problem, and then creating a solution. Also created time saving automations.Some of the technologies I worked with and trouble shot in this role included: Linux, Kerberos, Single Sign On (SSO) Products (Oracle, Netegrity, SiteMinder), SSL and SSH, and every Web Server imaginable. Much of this work was "problem reproduction/figuring it out" and providing a solution to the end customer, and working with our development team, if needed, for a formal patch. Successfully resolving these issues meant understanding the basics of networking, TCP/IP, HTTP, authentication, Web Standards but then using creativity to determine a root cause.Some additional responsibilities included configuring, trouble shooting and performing node replacements for the GB-8008 (12-node clusters) for Google’s largest customers onsite, including Government agencies. During my tenure at Google I was also selected to travel to multiple European offices to help out with the foreign work load and train new hires.Additionally, my favorite projects were centered around eliminate manual work for my team members - I scripted a data mining tool for an in-house CRM application to save several hours per team member and to avoid "lots of typing and clicking" for each of them.Finally, I also wrote a great amount of internal documentation, as most of the procedures that I performed were either newly discovered, or as yet undocumented.

As a member of the Site Reliability Team, we kept the Search Engine "Looksmart.com" up 24/7. I worked with Qualys to ensure public facing servers passed PCI compliance tests and resolved Security Vulnerabilities for the Unix Clusters.I was also the Project Manager for Subversion roll out including Planning, Requirements and Execution. I supported Business Intelligence Applications and Hardware Directly Related to Revenue. I wrote automation tools for the maintenance of them all.Finally, I engaged Management to reshape on-call structure and worked towards manageable solutions both beneficial to the Company and System Admins.

In this role I shared responsibility for over 200 servers running a mix of Unix, NT 4.0, and Windows 200X Platforms in a 2000 user Windows Domain as a member of the Data Center Team. Some of my work included:- Migrating Public Facing NT FTP Server to Hardened SCP/Chrooted FTP Linux server. - Creating a Monitoring System for Unix Web servers, Disk Space and SMTP servers. - Mission Critical Unix System and Oracle Database Backups in ERP Environment. - Reclaiming valuable Datacenter space migrating legacy hardware to 2U servers. - Managing Application Upgrades and Recommending Hardware and Software Strategies.- Ensuring Security Updates were current on Data Center Systems.- Publishing Several Print Articles based on my Systems/Security work at IDX.

In this role I worked with clients as an onsite Linux/Windows consultant. Some of the work I did included:- Migrating Client site to new DNS infrastructure and assisted in Datacenter move.- Developing Redhat Linux kickstart scripts to Reduce Client Costs and Setup time.- Mentoring junior staff on Linux and Exchange.- Managing a Cisco network for a 100 person client company.- Hardening IIS DMZ servers using industry best practices.- Performing on-site External Network Security Assessment for client.

In this role I provided technical support for Microsoft Exchange Server.Specifically that involved:- Troubleshooting email connectivity for Microsoft Exchange (4.0-5.5) Server- Troubleshooting email to Novell Groupwise, Lotus Notes, MS Mail, Lotus CC:Mail - Configuring Microsoft Exchange site connectors, Internet Mail Connector (SMTP), X.400, and Dynamic remote access connectors (DRAS).- Resolving Server Down Issues for Customers, including Disaster Recoveries
