I am an experienced architect with a strong focus on timber construction, bio-based building and adaptive reuse.I studied architecture at TU Delft (MSc/Ir) and during my studies organized various conferences and seminars, such as INDESEM and The Projective Landscape. My thesis examined the physical and non-physical factors that have contributed to the ‘failure’ of the Bijlmermeer, a postwar expansion district of Amsterdam. Working as an architect and researcher at NL Architects and VMX Architects, I have experience with large-scale housing projects in all phases of the design process.I joined ZUS in 2009, working on various projects in the fields of architecture, urban redevelopment, landscape design, urban design, set construction and large-scale (phased) development visions. I was project leader of De Luchtsingel: a wooden pedestrian bridge in the center of Rotterdam which functions as a catalyst for alternative forms of city development. As part of Test Site Rotterdam, De Luchtsingel investigates the potential of progressive, collaborative, small-scale, and sometimes temporary approaches to re-launching stalled regional development in Rotterdam’s Central Business District.Since december 2016 I am a project architect at NEXT architects working on a wide range of projects from architecture to infrastructure. In 2023 I co-initiated -together with Bart Reuser en Douwe Strating- NEXT natuurlijk; our effort to greatly reduce the carbon footprint of our designs for a competitive price.
