I work as a media director at a non-profit school. My main task is to create content to promote the school’s academic program and extra-circular activities. I also manage a team of seven that work on video, graphic design, studio recording, and Web design. I’m directly in charge of the video department. In conjunction with overseeing the production of videos, 65% of my time is spent in post-production of projects. The other 35% of my time is spent in pre-production of new projects, actual physical production, and in meetings with clients discussing potential projects.

First point of contact for visiting clients and guest, ensuring a kind professional welcome and accommodating all of their needs. Provide script coverage for incoming script submissions. Give detailed notes on script drafts in order to aid in the transformation process of scripts in development. Take meeting notes to aid executives in their process of development and production. Answer phone calls, lunch orders and maintain a clean work environment in the offices, boardroom, kitchen and reception area.

I ran electrical cables for set lighting and mounted fixtures. I also focused on instruments and changed lamps as necessary. I oversaw general maintenance of rented equipment including cleaning, basic repair of instruments, attaching gels and other accessories, and lugging gear to various sets. I corresponded with vendors to ensure timely and proper replacement of equipment when necessary. I served as liaison between the electric department and the production office. I worked with high powered levels well above 400 amps and with lights of varying intensity including household light bulbs of 40W to 24kw. I also worked as the Best Boy Electric. I ensured that the equipment was working and ready to go for the Gaffer.

I worked directly for the production office, however, I often assisted many other departments. I reported to the Producers, Unit Production Manager, and Production Coordinator. My assignments ranged from office work to on set work, handing out call sheets, passing out film notifications to the neighborhood where filming occurred, collecting time sheets, completing food runs, transportation of talent and crew members, cleaning the set, and maintaining the upkeep of the production office. I was often the first person to arrive and the last person to leave.

Led concept development, and storytelling ideas. I worked extensively to develop new strategies of pre-production, production, and post-production. I worked with a variety of clients, creatively leading man projects and working with our team to tackle new challenges. I gained knowledge and extensive experience of the full creative process from start to finish and grew in my abilities to lead a team and accomplish a task with collaboration as our focus.

I created content in the capacities of Director of Photography, Content Director and Manager, and Director. Under AUSA the student association our team created content to represent the student body and their interest. It was my role to not only create the visual aesthetic for each project but assist in concept for these videos.
