The airport unit works in close collaboration with 120 major European airports. These airports provide regularly information to Eurocontrol regarding their current situation, their future plans and any event which may impact their operations. This information is essential to a number of Eurocontrol processes. As a trainee I played an effective role on the following tasks in this process: - Validate the information provided by airports in close collaboration with local airport contacts; - Support the development of Network Operations Plan (NOP) and Network Operations Report (NOR) reports; - Propose improvements and better quality of the integration of airports into the monthly Network Performance Analysis process (monthly NOR) - Identify means of improving the use of the airport information inside (Strategic and Pre-tactical planning, Post-Operations processes) and outside Eurocontrol (Airports, ACCs, Airlines,etc); - Whenever required, support the recurrent process of information reporting from 120 European airports; - Support the provision of airport information to other Eurocontrol units and external users; - Respond / follow-up ad-hoc internal and external information requests; - Participate in the development of the Airport Corner web based tool (e.g. definition of new requirements and user acceptance test, problem reporting, implementation of new requirements)

Main focus during this intership programme was on introduction to airside operations at International Airport Kurumoch. I also used this opportunity to collect all the data and information I needed for my undergraduated thesis: Sport mega-events impact on airport development - International Airport Kurumoch (Samara, Russia).
