Unfortunately this coincided with massive cuts in defense spending. So I spent my first nearly 4 years doing everything but what I joined to do. I still gained some great experiences including representing the RN in the inaugural Armed Forces Rugby World Cup in Australia - so I can't complain too much. Eventually I began flying training but was injured and medically discharged just prior to reaching the front line. Just shy of 8 years in and not a medal to show but plenty gained nonetheless! One goal in life is absolutely to obtain my private pilots license for helicopters - PPL(H) - and maybe beyond to a commercial license if things line up.After my exit from the RN I was at a loss for what to do with my life. Because of my property investments I had developed a real interest in and around tax and financial planning. It seemed to make sense to go into financial planning. Unfortunately, despite the subject itself being greatly interesting to me, the industry and role itself just wasn't for me so I made the decision to move on and concentrate on property investment - now with the benefit of a Diploma in Financial Planning. I do not ever wish to tie myself into something that does not fulfill me so I have spent a lot of time contemplating life since!I love fast cars, big cars, helicopters, sunshine, rugby (although my body says no to playing again), food and property.
