Accountable for running the global operational risk function and as Group Director for Operational Risk Transformation across HSBC. In the face of a catastrophic audit and loss of regulator confidence, with resulting threat of large capital penalties, radical action was required. Jo successfully shaped and led the programme of activity to deliver outcomes which satisfied both the Board and the regulators, gaining external recognition for HSBC as the Risk.net Bank of the Year in 2019. This resulted in a new way of working in Operational Risk management for HSBC globally, whilst transforming the operational risk function itself.

Created the processes and structures to drive and encourage participation in the new online market for members (150 financial institutions) enabled by a vibrant marketplace of trading solutions across 20 software vendors, whilst safeguarding integrity and resilience of the market.
