From a young age, I fell in love with how science seemingly explained everything about human nature and the world around us. It was not until later on in my life that I decided I wanted to pursue a career in science. Ultimately, I have chosen Nursing as my desired career path because it combines my passion for obtaining knowledge of the human body with my feelings of fulfillment and purpose whenever I can help people in a meaningful way. What I find incredibly unique about nursing is how it is an integration of all the academic disciplines. Besides being educated in the sciences and technology behind nursing, it is arguably equally significant to be knowledgeable in ethics, psychology, the humanities, and patient education. I hope to seek future job opportunities that would enable me to gain more hands-on clinical experience.Within the past few years, I have gotten the amazing opportunity to volunteer at my local Kaiser Permanente Hospital where I get to shadow physicians and nurses, administer COVID-19 tests, discharge patients, and help answer any questions the patients may have. Because of my dedication to taking rigorous STEM courses to better prepare me for nursing school, I became the recipient of the De Anza Biological Science/Health Science Scholarship and the De Anza Osher Scholarship.Through my experiences working in customer service and volunteering for various organizations, I believe that I can offer a more creative and unique perspective to solving potential problems. I enjoy meeting new people and listening to new perspectives. My specialties include problem-solving, communication, and learning new skills quickly.
