CurrentAs Participation Officer, my responsibilities include:◦ ascertaining feedback from children, teenagers and young adults about the care they receive from the Local Authority;◦ liaising with key stakeholders, both locally and nationally, to optimise outcomes for care-experienced young people;◦ sitting on the Corporate Parenting Panel - and empowering care leavers to engage with the Panel's elected members as experts by experience;◦ organising a dynamic programme of events for… Show more As Participation Officer, my responsibilities include:◦ ascertaining feedback from children, teenagers and young adults about the care they receive from the Local Authority;◦ liaising with key stakeholders, both locally and nationally, to optimise outcomes for care-experienced young people;◦ sitting on the Corporate Parenting Panel - and empowering care leavers to engage with the Panel's elected members as experts by experience;◦ organising a dynamic programme of events for children and young people - ensuring that they are given opportunities to have fun, meet peers with experience of Local Authority care, and try new things;◦ facilitating the Care-Experienced Council, bringing together a group of young people to lobby for organisational changeMy first-year achievements include:◦ curating the inaugural Care-Experienced Art Exhibition at Harrow Arts Centre - an innovation which saw nine artists, photographers and poets display their work within a commercial gallery; ◦ connecting children, teenagers and care leavers across ten London boroughs with creative opportunities - via professional partnerships with leading arts organisations, theatres and production companies; ◦ organising the Care-Experienced Celebration - championing the achievements of children and young people cared for by the London Borough of Harrow;◦ creating an online feedback mechanism for care-experienced young people to submit their views on any aspect of their care;◦ facilitating training sessions between care leavers and Newly-Qualified Social Workers; ◦ being recognised as one of five finalists for the London Borough of Harrow's Employee of the Year Award Show less
