Work directly with providers that are providing behavioral health services to criminal justice involved individuals. Coordinate services and act as a liaison for forensic individuals with Office of AMH and Office of Forensics. Responsible for planning, directing, and implementing specialty programs. Develop long- and short-term objectives, policies, protocols, guidelines, and plans for specialty programs.Development of outreach strategies to work with court leadership and work with the courts for identified individuals that need behavioral health community services in an effort to avoid competency being raised by diverting individuals to community resources and services. Develop and maintain a working relationship with other agencies in the community to stay current about available resources. Provide oversight to victim advocates who ensure information is provided to victims of the criminal justice process and act as a liaison on behalf of victims – this includes next of kin for cases that have a loss of life or legal guardian for cases that have minor victims. Provide notification of the release/transfer of violent and designated felon offenders for any reason, providing support services and resources for victims of PREA and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC), and walking victim through court process.• Provide training and education to public and staff on how to minimize their risk of victimization and available community programs throughout the state of Georgia as needed on a monthly basis. Offer peer support and implement self-care practices for staff. Create and review policy for the Office of Victim and Volunteer Services, develop connections with community partners to create programs for staff and youth to be involved to provide opportunities to giveback to the community and offer learning enrichment for youth that are under the supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice.• Coordinate annual programs for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, Child Abuse Prevention Month and Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Provide support for staff to create trainings, find resources for victims in need, ensuring a process is in place to ensure that communication with other state and local organizations (Department of Corrections, Children’s Advocacy Center of Georgia, Division of Family and Children Services, Girl Scouts of America, Dekalb County School System, etc.) is effective and there is thorough follow up to ensure no gap in services or programs.
