Hello, I’m Joy Downs, a motivated junior data scientist with a passion for transforming data into actionable insights. I’ve recently completed my education in Data Science at the Southern Careers Institute and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, and Music from Missouri State University. My technical skills include proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Kanban. I have hands-on experience with data mining, data wrangling, and data visualization, as well as statistical modeling techniques like linear and non-linear regression. I’m well-versed in databases, including SQL, NoSQL, and MongoDB, and have exposure to big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig, HBase, and DASK.I’ve also honed my skills in data science tools like Jupyter-Lab, SciPy, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Pandas, and have used them to work on personal projects. For example, I’ve conducted a Cigarette Consumption Panel Project using R, where I applied linear regression, Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation, and other statistical methods. In another project, I worked with Python to interpret supervised machine learning model accuracy and perform cross-validation in the Diamonds Project. In addition to my academic and personal project experience, I have a strong work ethic demonstrated through my roles as a Transaction Associate Manager at Cushman & Wakefield, Underwriter at West-Flo Kitchen and Underwriting Assistant at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. In these positions, I’ve developed essential skills in contract negotiation, relationship management, and risk analysis.I am now eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a challenging data analyst role where I can contribute to data-driven decision-making and continue my growth as a data professional. I am dedicated to learning and excited about the opportunity to make an impact through data analysis. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my background and enthusiasm can benefit your team.
