I have worked with people throughout my adult life. I trained as a Social Worker and am registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). I also trained as a RGN and although I am no longer registered, I carry that with me in my work. I have taken opportunities to learn and develop my skills and knowledge in different sectors and in a range of roles throughout my career. This includes significant experience within the NHS, social work, commissioning and contract management, project management, regulation, complaints management, advocacy, family group decision making and participation and engagement. I am committed to evidence based practice and graduated with a self-funded Masters in Health Research in November 2022. I am a reflective practitioner and set high standards for myself. I seek to promote and facilitate high standards of service provision in my work alongside children, young people, adults and families. I have a very keen interest and significant insight into systems, organisational culture and how these impact on how services are delivered and how people experience service provision. I work with passion, creativity, energy and motivation driven by personal and professional experience. My involvement in participatory arts sustains and strengthens me and my work. I also use what I learn from this experience to help build creativity and connection in my practice. I believe it is important to listen to people's voice, to be responsive and to act consistently with integrity. By doing so, I believe we can help services feel kinder, more respectful and ultimately work better for everyone.
