After my stint at Aira as a Consultant and Subject Matter Expert, I received the opportunity to work as an Accessibility Tester at Fable Tech Labs, based in Toronto, where I worked remotely, testing websites and apps to provide the necessary feedback to make them accessible for everyone. I continue to hone in on my passion-driven skillset of writing and Assistive Technology. I earned my IAAP CPACC certification. With my continued use of Aira's technology, my blindness skills, and usable vision, I strive to unlock the door to new journeys that lie ahead and touch the lives of sighted and blind persons in my local community and beyond. My most current position is Education Department Assistant, Digital UX Accessibility Specialist at the Butler Institute of American Art where I assist in integrating and enhancing both the usability and accessibility experiences for all museum visitors and guests. Some duties include, but are not limited to: updating print and Braille signage, ensuring both print and digital materials are accessible, creating new program for the disability community, as well as providing an inclusive experience for all museum goers. I graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree from Youngstown State University; my Bachelors was in English and Spanish, and my Masters in English. Shortly after my Masters, I completed an extremely intensive adaptation to blindness via a training program in Baltimore for 10 months. This was an absolutely incredible experience, and I learned a plethora of invaluable skills. Currently, I volunteer at the Youngstown Radio Reading Service for the Blind at Goodwill Industries in Youngstown, Ohio, where I read various magazine articles to blind listeners. These sessions are prerecorded and compiled into the Radio Reading Service schedule. I have also been a guest on the show "Insights in Sound", usually hosted by Mike Bosela, the Coordinator of Radio Reading. In addition: I write a monthly column for the Boardman News related to blindness, technology, and sometimes, interviewing local blind individuals to highlight their accomplishments, and on WordPress I also write a blog containing my poetry and blindness-related topics (e.g. technology, Braille and cane travel). The link to my blog is: www.eyedeaswithoutborders.wordpress.com.Currently, I am enrolled in a second online Master's Program at Ohio State in Art Education and museum education. Along, with my position at Butler I've obtained new skills such as: Google Slides, Lucid Charts, Google Docs, Brightspace, Deque University Software, and CarmenCanvas.
