Reporting to the Digital & Resources Director I was responsible for designing and embedding the Sustainability Principles strategy for Council. Educate & Change Ourselves, Embrace Community, Build & Spent Smarter, Rethink & Reduce What We Use & Celebrate & Cultivate Nature. These 5 principles became the foundations for the Council to shape it's sustainability approach. My main objective was to change the landscape, language, engagement and understanding of what a sustainable council could look like, which was also endorsed by the local Councillors. In the 17 months I was there, I also delivered various activities including, large corporate building solar installation, corporate sustainability training, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, sharing economy car sharing initiative, plus facilitated internal & external sustainability & transport networks. An excellent position, in a progressive Council that wanted to do the right thing for the long term. I only left when my husband gained a job here in NZ.

As the Customer Branch Sustainable Business Manager, I managed a small team that took the business unit (7000 employees) from a place of zero sustainability knowledge to a business unit that was actively rethinking how it was able to be economically, environmentally and socially conscious of it's business decisions. Sustainable decision making was successfully embedded into the supply chain resulting in various positive outcomes, e.g, significant savings identified from the meter asset process, challenging and changing materials used for various contracts and moving to a shared value supply chain. Training based on the Cambridge Sustainable Leadership program delivered to the top 200 senior managers across the organisation which was seen as the catalysis for rethinking future strategy. Plus various other smaller initiatives, waste, transport, energy related e.t.c, each bringing about mindset and behaviour change organisationally.

I possess very strong people, operational and organisational skills. Process change management and project management were also key skills due to the continual regulation and legislation changes over the years.
