I've started New Learning Collaborative, LLC. My/our exciting first venture involves helping to grow the MBLC, a newly formed community of schools across Washington State, modeled on the work of the Competency Collaborative. Also ask me about Competency Collaborative (formerly Mastery Collaborative), a community of K-12 NYC public schools that use youth-centered, culturally responsive-sustaining, competency-based education. Both New Learning Collaborative and Competency Collaborative dig into principles, purpose, and impact of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, equitable grading, and culture. We seek to make school clear, useful, sustaining, joyful, and equitable for everyone in a school community. We engage in collaborative learning and unlearning, resource and practice sharing, within and across schools.
