    Communications manager for a regional (East African) biotechnology project called BiosafeTrain, which, focuses on biosafety risk assessment of transgenic plants on the environment. BiosafeTrain is a project funded by the Danish Development Agency( DANIDA) www.biosafetrain.dk. I managed communication of the project in three African countries (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania), and report to headquarters- in Denmark. The partner institutions were University of Nairobi, Kenya Agricultural Research Institute,Makerere University, University of Dar-es-Salaam, Copenhagen University and Aarhus University. By the end of the project DANIDA voted the Communications office as ‘Excellent’DUTIES• Set up the Africa and communications office. • Improve the information flow and presence of the project in the East African region, but also on the continent and internationally.• Came up with the communications strategy , aids and tools of the project.• Write interviews of participating people, for publication on website and other forums• Organise interviews, local press contacts. Set up a media mailing list and out of this BiosafeTrain has been avidly covered on print and broadcast since the inception of the Africa office in December 2006-http://www.biosafetrain.dk/Press%20center/In_press.htm .• Increase the project profile internationally, especially in developing countries, by managing communication within and without of the project (with our stakeholders)• Assist in preparing material for international appearances, conferences and workshops and organizing the projects presence at relevant international forums• Increase the profile of the programme through organising or co-organising public events, discussion forums, press conferences as appropriate in Africa
