As a new Sales Account Manager without the benefit of training, I created my own goals and timetable to achieve my first sales account for the company. I developed cold call scripts and regularly worked through them on a daily basis until I finally landed on a few solid accounts. Landing a few small accounts did not stop me from getting access to a larger enterprise account. After 3 months of hard work, I was finally given a chance (as a challenge) by Charles Schwab Purchasing Department to become one of their suppliers. I successfully met the challenge and MicroAge of Fremont was awarded a contract for 2 years ($6 Million), as the sole provider of computer equipment to Charles Schwab. Since I was never given any technical training, it was necessary for me to upgrade my skills in that area in order for me to advance to higher sales level. I expanded my sales initiative to include calling on financing companies, law firms and construction companies.
