Strengthening workforce and cultivating a positive workplace culture is my professional passion! I have more than 25 years of experience in the profit and not-for-profit sectors of healthcare workforce, with a strong emphasis on the recruitment and retention of physicians, dentists, advance practitioners, nurses, allied and behavioral health providers. Over the last 18 years, I have worked to enhance the quality and quantity of health care professionals in rural Kansas through the efforts of the KU Medical Center’s Rural Health Education and Services programs. As director of Rural Health Education and Services, I am responsible for program development, fundraising, implementing strategies to strengthen Kansas’ health care workforce, overseeing limited research activities, evaluating initiatives, and making recommendations that effect internal and external statewide programs. To support such efforts, I have built strong relationships and led a variety of initiatives with State partners, healthcare organizations, providers, resident physicians, and students. I enjoy representing Kansas on regional and national levels and previously served on the board of directors for the national Rural Recruitment and Retention Network (3RNET). I have also shared my knowledge as a consultant to other states who are looking to implement similar workforce programs.
