The Author, Joyce MatlockSailing For Blondes, The Simulator Book, Learn Twice as Fast and Twice as "Good" Joyce Matlock was born in Nashville, Tennessee and is the author and innovator of the most unique and newest leading edge teaching method you can find on sailing instruction. Sailing For Blondes, The Simulator Book, Learn Twice as Fast and Twice as Good is a take off on the Dummies series of books. She holds a Master’s in Teaching from Trevecca Nazarene University. She holds patent-pending on The Simulator that works seamlessly with her teaching method.She began her sailing adventures and love affair with sailing on an inland lake on a Hobie 16’. She then lived aboard a Valiant 40’ for approximately four years, cruised Biscayne Bay, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. She and her husband ran sailing charters on their boat, Welkin, based out of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She has spent time sailing on the Chesapeake and anchoring in the special coves of that bay. She has also sailed the Grenadines, an island chain that is part of St. Vincent and Grenada.Currently, she is a member of Percy Priest Yacht Club where she is Sailing Director and a volunteer on-the-water and classroom sailing instructor. She has taught her own concepts and has also participated in teaching the U. S. Sailing basic keelboat curriculum for her sailing club.
